SRUC

Hello,

in this post, I will write a few things about my university for the autumn semester. SRUC is an abbreviation for Scotland´s Rural College and it was founded in 2012 by merging 4 different colleges. At this time, SRUC has 6 campuses in different locations in Scotland and it focuses on agriculture and land-based education. SRUC has fewer than 2000 students so it the small university. The campus in Edinburgh is a part of the University of Edinburgh campus which is very suitable since we can use all their facilities and there is no need to have separate cafés and restaurants. Below you can see the university building which is located in the south of Edinburgh in King´s buildings Campus. This is the building of SRUC where you can find a library, lecture rooms, education office, and other necessary facilities are part of the University of Edinburgh just few meters away. For instance, as a student at SRUC, we can use a gym situated on the campus which I think is a really good benefit. Also, squash and badminton courts can be found there.

To be honest, I assume I am a bit spoilt by our campus at SLU, because our campus at Ultuna is just beautiful and I really feel comfortable there. At SRUC, lecture rooms are not that comfortable so far, but we will see. I am curious about the education practices here and then I will be able to compare it to the practices in Sweden. However, at this time, it is difficult to judge as I will have a lot of time to explore it more.
