Hi,
from the previous post, you could find out that for this autumn semester I am in Edinburgh and not at SLU. I would like to tell you a few words about what has to be done to apply for exchange studies. First of all, it is easy and you can always ask the SLU mobility team to help you. Secondly, the application period is 1 Nov – 1 Dec, which gives you a sufficient amount of time to choose the right place. At this point in time one year ago, I did not know if I go on exchange. I knew I would like to go but I was not sure if I want to miss any of the Swedish courses and I felt that it is a bit odd to think about leaving after just few weeks in Sweden. However, the decision was done and I still hope that this decision was the right one. So that if you just started your studies at SLU and have the vision of going on exchange in your mind, think about that but I think applying is a good decision since you can always cancel your placement abroad.
I will describe the requirements later on in another post, however, meanwhile, I recommend visiting the SLU´s websites, where you can browse through the exchange studies options. I would say that every student will find a university that fulfills one´s criteria. You can choose either to study in English or in another language. Even though most of the students applying for exchange studies are Swedes, we as international students can apply too! Do not worry about that.
I think there is no need to have a perfect vision of where you want to go by this time, for now, it is enough if you consider pros and cons of going abroad and I believe that there will mostly be pros 🙂 So check SLU´s websites that help you have a better overview of options where go apply.
Bye, Denisa
